LASIK (Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is a popular type of refractive surgery that uses a laser to reshape the cornea, thereby correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The procedure involves creating a thin flap in the cornea with a microkeratome or femtosecond laser, lifting the flap, and applying the excimer laser to reshape the cornea. The flap is then repositioned, and the eye is allowed to heal.
