Who We Are

HASA OPTIX is an innovative ophthalmic surgery instruments company based in Brussels, Belgium. Established in 2016, we design and manufacture single-use tools and distribute them worldwide.

Our single-use, fully recyclable ophthalmic instruments are designed by surgeons for surgeons. Made of 100% stainless steel, they offer premium-quality at a fraction of the cost of reusable instruments.

In addition to consistently high quality, HASA OPTIX ensures ease of mind in the operating room. These instruments come in useful pre-packed pouches, customisable for every type of ophthalmic surgery, ensuring that nurses and other medical professionals spend the least time possible accounting for instrument trays and logistic processes.

HASA OPTIX instruments also contribute to transparent cost allocation. You can rest assured that the price of individual instruments or instrument sets is the only cost you will incur. No more hidden sterilisation, labour costs, or stocking fees.

Recyclable Ophthalmology Instruments

From the inception of the company, we had a forthright goal to produce instruments made of 100% metal, with absolutely zero plastic inserts. Stainless steel was chosen especially for our instruments, mainly due to its look, feel, and high level of quality, as well as its famous recycling capabilities.

The use of stainless steel in the production of our instruments led us to the development of our ongoing set of sustainability initiatives, dubbed #HASARecycles. To learn more about our Recycling Initiatives, check out our Sustainabilitypage.

Single and Double-Ended Ophthalmic Instruments

All of our instruments were designed with the surgeon in mind. In addition to the single-ended classics that all surgeons know and use, we have introduced double-ended instruments to further improve the user experience.

Our double-ended instruments, namely the manipulators, choppers, and spatulas, were created to further maximise the surgeon’s time efficiency and comfort while performing an ophthalmic procedure. They effectively eliminate the need to switch back and forth between instruments, leaving space on the surgical tray and helping to ease the process of accounting for each instrument.

All the instruments of our catalogue are available in all our global locations.

Our History

In 2013, a Dutch eye surgeon and an English engineer discovered that stakeholders involved in ophthalmic surgery were unhappy with the instrument surgical solutions provided at the time.

After documenting their feedback, they embarked on a journey to provide instrumental solutions that would answer the demands of ophthalmic surgeons and other relevant stakeholders. After dedicating three years to research and development, they founded HASA OPTIX Belgium in 2016.
